Hey guys, I started a blog for just coffee!

Follow my journey through the 3,759 airports I’m about to visit, and my general coffee adventures to come.

I am not new to the internet.

I started coffee “blogging(?)” on my twitter (@JacquiRacquel) a while ago, but I decided to truly follow suit on tumblr as I am about to embark on a great coffee journey.

With coffee from my company freshly roasted, and as much swag as my carry on will allow, I’m about to return to my coffee home, Melbourne, Australia, for the World Barista Championship.

A little about my coffee background:

1. I discovered coffee in Melbourne and worked as a barista there.

2. I circuited the Los Angeles coffee shops working at various places and training with some of L.A.’s finest.

3. I eventually landed a job with Intelligentsia at Silver Lake, where I currently work and fall in love with coffee every day a bit more.

4. After Worlds is over, I plan on moving to New York to work in the new Chelsea branch of my company.

This blog is meant for all things coffee-related, and to act as way to share my upcoming coffee experiences.

Delicious tears, I love how wacky the series has become. You must be the same people that can’t appreciate Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon.

I DON’T HEAR ANYONE SINGING PRAISES FOR SAINTS ROW 1, BECAUSE IT WAS A SHITTY GTA CLONE.

And SR2 was so glitchy with such bad controls it was damn near unplayable. If I want serious gang violence I will play a series that ALWAYS did it better.

That series is Grand Theft Auto.

I’ll enjoy my kooky super powers and off the wall humor. Get mad.

News! Life!

Hi all! Today was my last shift at my day-job as manager of the Mudhouse. It has been fantastic and magical and now it is time to move forward into full-time Feisty! To kicks it off—I’m going to Peru with my wife (who is going for research) to scope out some farms and explore. This means that I won’t be roasting until the 15th. On the 29th I’m heading off on an American-bound roadtrip to meet coffee folks and go to coffee shops and there will be more on that later. For now—here’s my info to you guys. At the SCAA this year I volunteered at a skillbuilding workshop for le nez du cafe. The teacher in the class, Rocky Rhodes, talked about the 4 ways coffee aromas are aggregated: Enzymatic (the growing process), Sugar Browning (the 1st crack of roasting), Dry Distillation (the pyrolytic reaction in roasting up to the 1st crack), and Aromatic Taints (absorbed through processing/ storage etc). It was a valuable workshop and helped identify the genesis of defects in the supply chain via cupping. Sounds like you guys are finding the CC classes to be useful—glad to see people concerned with the importance of defect cupping!
